Where will the iPhone 8 Touch ID go? — 2022
What if on the screen, on the back, behind the apple logo, on the unlock button... There have been many rumors in recent months about the iPhone 8 (with the name still to be confirmed), and with them the doubt of where will Touch ID be integrated that until now integrated the home button. In this article we will review some of those rumors to try to get closer to what will be reality in a few months. What if there is no Touch ID?
Integrated in the screen
Everything indicates that Apple will achieve, once again, what others have tried and failed : Embed Touch ID on the screen.
It would certainly be a real blow on the table by Apple that managed to integrate it into the screen through a virtual home button, which without ceasing to be a screen, did the functions that we have done so far with the classic home button.
But would it be integrated in a single place or would it spread to the entire screen? It would rather be the first, and although it would have been complex to get to this point, I think that extending it to the entire screen would now be nothing more than a small step forward and would give us a number of unique amenities such as entering an App protected with Touch ID by touching only its icon.
Will those from Cupertino manage to take the cat to the water with the Touch ID on the screen? Everything points to yes, but nothing is confirmed yet and other variants can be given.
In the back
Integrating Touch ID on the back is the other big rumor floating around, and it's certainly too. the one that generates the most controversy between users, since few are just convinced the alleged design of an iPhone 8 with the fingerprint reader on the back.
Realistically, it would not be a drama that the Touch ID will be found on the back of the new iPhone, after all, almost all the brands that are betting on a full-screen front part, took the fingerprint reader behind.
What is clear is that Apple could not afford to put it in an inaccessible place as has happened with the Samsung Galaxy S8 (especially the Plus version). But if it is well integrated, respects the design, is accessible and works just as well as before, we can not complain.
behind the apple
When the first rumors of the Touch ID of the iPhone 8 on the back began to emerge, many of us thought that it could even integrate the very same apple logo. There are few rumors about it, but it would be a very elegant detail in which Apple would shine by doing something unique.
It would also be a change compared to previous generations, since it would no longer be at the front to move to the rear, but it would undoubtedly be a suitable place to put it . In addition, seeing the size that the new iPhone will presumably have, it would be a very accessible place with your finger to unlock the phone without having to search until you find the fingerprint reader.
This possibility has hardly been discussed either, but it is another variant that Apple could have considered when choosing the fate of the fingerprint reader.
There are brands, such as Sony's Xperia, that have already opted to have the fingerprint reader on the button that we use to turn the phone on and off. It is comfortable and very accessible. So accessible that we could not unlock the phone without touching said button and that makes it a perfect place. However could alter the design of the button itself and of the iPhone in terms of width since it could hardly be integrated with the shape and size of the current on/off button.
In addition, and from experiences that I have been able to hear, not quite fast and efficient the fact that the reader is integrated into said button.
What if there was no Touch ID?
Until the iPhone 5s, if we wanted to unlock the phone with some security, it had to be through a numerical code. Touch ID has arrived and it seems that we forgot about the previous unlocking method. What if in the next iPhone they made us forget Touch ID ?
Some new unlocking methods are being developed, either by face detection or iris scanning. New ways , which, if well developed and implemented, would be much more secure and accurate than the fingerprint itself.
The cons of this section are many and most are due to its security. It is very difficult to ensure that there would be no way to supplant us and unlock the phone without our permission. But neither can we guarantee that Apple was not developing a secure unlocking system in which it is almost impossible to bypass security. And I say almost, because nothing is impossible when it comes to computer security.
The iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone Edition, or whatever you want to call the 10th anniversary iPhone, will bring a new way of understanding and handling our phone . Many of these news are being known little by little (although not confirmed). And the Touch ID will be another novelty. As we said, Everything indicates that it will be integrated into the screen and it would be the most groundbreaking way to get there, making Apple the first to achieve it again and lead the way. But until it is officially presented (no date yet) anything can happen and we already know that those from Cupertino are experts in surprising us and it would not be surprising if we had not even been right in any of these rumors.
I invite you to read an article that we have just made of a new render of the iPhone that I leave you here .
