What does iOS 10 lack to be perfect? — 2022

Since the presentation of iOS 10 at the opening of the WWDC 2016 , I was amazed at the news that Apple presented. So much so that I decided to install the first iOS beta on my iPhone.

But Not all can be perfect , that is why in this article I will talk about what Apple could have introduced in iOS 10 to do it perfect .
I will put aside logical failures that this beta has, since it is the first one. And to be honest it works really well.

Charms on the lock screen in iOS 10

Now sliding the lock screen to the left, we find access to the camera. Much easier than sliding a small icon up.
Unfortunately we cannot change this .

A good option would be switch to another app (calculator, notes, etc) or by another third-party camera application.

Touch ID and security

As far as security, sure. many novelties are imperceptible since they work within the operating system ensuring our privacy.
Equally, a very useful feature could be that iOS 10 does not allow us to turn off the device without our fingerprint or security code . With this we would prevent them from turning off the device in the event of theft, thus avoiding its location.

Although since WWDC 2014, Apple released its API For developers to use Touch ID in their apps, many still don't take advantage of it. It would be great if Apple allows us natively, choose which apps to block with Touch ID .

Control center

Another aspect to improve is the Control center , by default Apple allows us to activate/deactivate different settings (Airplane mode, WiFi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb and Rotation).

Unfortunately we cannot modify these settings , something that many of us have been asking for for a long time. As an example, being able to deactivate mobile data from the Control Center, avoiding spending our data package or sometimes the battery. Also it would be very useful to be able to easily change the network mode (2G, 3G or LTE) .

Delete native apps

Although many of us get excited with the idea of being able to delete those applications that Apple offers us natively, when we start to see in more detail we observe that it does not really free up space on the device (something that would be very useful for users with devices of 16GB capacity). What it actually does is clear access to the app .

Perhaps actually deleting native apps (which don't affect device operation) would be a great option.

Assign default apps

We find many alternatives to native applications (Camera, Calculator, Maps, Notes, etc), surely we can find the one that best suits our needs in the extensive catalog of the App Store.
A feature that could improve our experience would be to be able to determine which application we want to be the default to perform an action .

For example, if we want Chrome or another browser to run natively when opening a web link instead of Safari.

Something that Apple also showed us in past WWDC and at the moment only available for iPad . Perhaps in small screen devices it is not something very practical, in a iPhone Plus yes it would be. And being able to run two apps simultaneously would be a productivity strength.

Many of the novelties that we saw in iOS 10 are inspired by the jailbreak and probably some of the features I named are too.
Despite not publicly acknowledging it, Apple has always looked at those popular tweaks to somehow incorporate them into its mobile operating system.

If there are any other features that you think should have iOS 10 to be perfect I encourage you to share it in the comments section.
