The design of the iPhone 7 could have damaged a large part of its sales — 2022

New information from CIRP suggests that sales of the iPhone 7 could have been better and suffered over the course of its launch, all thanks to the fact that the design was an important factor when comparing it with other models such as the iPhone 6 or 6s .

Within the new, the iPhone 7 failed to captivate users at all

It is true that the iPhone 7 Plus has surprised in terms of some features, its double camera has helped it to position itself within the taste of those users who are lovers of photography, and the bokeh effect offered by portrait mode has captivated many, including myself.

On the other hand, the iPhone 7 does not represent a big change from its predecessor. differences like the new home button (not physical), water resistance , headphone jack removal, stereo speakers, new colors like matte black and piano black , a new A10 chip, have not been entirely captivating and that is why sales have gone to other iPhone models. A third of sales represent older models, a higher percentage not seen since 2014 (when the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus came out).

It stands out (and as we expect) that buyers chose the 7 Plus over the 4.7 model, although very little since they were almost the same. Plus models represented 41% of total sales , which is an increase from 2015. Consumers have consciously chosen to purchase a larger, more expensive model.

They have also noticed that consumers show loyalty to what the iPhone is, since there are more users who choose to buy a next-generation iPhone than those who come from Android mobiles. 10% of consumers have changed an Android for a 7 or 7 Plus, the majority of users who have changed from iPhone to Android have gone on to have an iPhone 6S or 6S Plus.

People are becoming more aware at the time of purchase

It is important to note how Apple has been leaving a legacy to its devices. If the goal was that every user in the world had an iPhone, or at least that he had tried it once, now Apple wants its latest models to be in the hands of consumers. Perhaps not launching a new iPhone with great features or changes from one year to the next helps Cupertino make the previous iPhone the new one (in this case the 6S or 6S Plus) more affordable for a large part of users.

It's no wonder Apple has also changed the storage sizes on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, they are devices that are still recent for Apple And let's not leave aside the iPhone SE, which is now available in a 128 GB model.

What do you think of these data? Do you think that Apple's strategy is that its previous models are the best sellers after launching a new iPhone? Share your opinions with us in the comment box.
