New information from CIRP suggests that sales of the iPhone 7 could have been better and suffered over the course of its launch, all thanks to the fact that the design was an important factor when comparing it with other models such as the iPhone 6 or 6s .

It stands out (and as we expect) that buyers chose the 7 Plus over the 4.7 model, although very little since they were almost the same. Plus models represented 41% of total sales , which is an increase from 2015. Consumers have consciously chosen to purchase a larger, more expensive model.
They have also noticed that consumers show loyalty to what the iPhone is, since there are more users who choose to buy a next-generation iPhone than those who come from Android mobiles. 10% of consumers have changed an Android for a 7 or 7 Plus, the majority of users who have changed from iPhone to Android have gone on to have an iPhone 6S or 6S Plus.
People are becoming more aware at the time of purchase
It is important to note how Apple has been leaving a legacy to its devices. If the goal was that every user in the world had an iPhone, or at least that he had tried it once, now Apple wants its latest models to be in the hands of consumers. Perhaps not launching a new iPhone with great features or changes from one year to the next helps Cupertino make the previous iPhone the new one (in this case the 6S or 6S Plus) more affordable for a large part of users.
