Live Listen, one more reason to love iOS 12 and AirPods — 2022

With the arrival of iOS 12 and the new compatibility of AirPods, we will have the opportunity to activate Live Listen (listen live). This functionality allows you to listen to the microphone of the AirPods in real time. This functionality allowed the devices to be used MFI (Made for iPhone) through accessibility, where a hearing-impaired person could hear what a speaker was speaking at a distance. Now, thanks to iOS 12, AirPods will be compatible with this new functionality. AirPods, being 100% wireless, allow us to reduce the number of devices for this purpose, gaining a new functionality that will be very well received.

How does Live Listen work in iOS 12 with AirPods?

Very simple, we put ourselves in a situation. we are in one work talk or at an event. The person in charge of giving the talk would put on one of the AirPods , the person with hearing problems, the other would be placed. In this way, the AirPods will act as a pinganillo to stream live audio through the microphone of the Apple headphones.

After enabling the feature in iPhone settings, users will be able to effectively use their phones as a directional microphone. This means you can have AirPods in a noisy restaurant with your iPhone on the table, for example, and the voice of whoever is speaking will be directed to your AirPods.

This functionality will be available through accessibility . At the moment, we have not been able to test it, although some users us confirm that they have been able to use it. In addition, they add that the audio and distance quality is quite good. So, without a doubt, another reason to love iOS 12 and the AirPods . In this way, Apple continues to addApple Watch accessibility features, iPhone, iPad or Mac, making their devices increasingly usable for all users.

With Live Listen, your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch becomes a remote microphone that sends sound to your MFI (Made for iPhone). Live Listen can help you hear a conversation in a noisy environment or hear someone talking from across the room.

This function is not new, already existed , but only for the compatible MFI devices, but as we mentioned, thanks to the compatibility of the AirPods in iOS 12 , it will be possible to use Apple headphones soon.
