There is a Jailbreak for the Apple Watch, but we will not have it — 2022

All users of some Apple equipment know of the existence of the jailbreak , a tool that allows us to add extra functions to our devices. A few years ago, at least for me, the jailbreak stopped making sense on the iPhone.
Today we bring you a sample that Apple Watch it is also possible to jailbreak it.

The jailbreak reaches the Apple Watch, although not in an extended way

We all know the level of security control that Apple provides to its products, but sometimes there are open doors through which hackers are able to enter and violate certain sections of the operating system of the device in question. This time the protagonist is the Apple Watch , a device that until now no one had dared to violate.

Jailbreak on iOS

The protagonist of the Jailbreak in question is Max Basaliy , hacker who has exposed his experience and his achievements in the security conference that is currently being held in Las Vegas , the famous DEFCON .

The hacker has been able to bypass the security barriers and restrictions available to him WatchOS and, in this way, it has managed to enter the file system of the Cupertino smart watch.

If we break down the information that Max Bazaliy has been able to access, we see how he has been able to access data such as the user activity information and other data pertaining to the Health application; You have also been able to access the call history, our agenda hosted in Calendar; to our messages and email accounts that we have synchronized on our Apple Watch; and even to the GPS signal and the microphone of the clock itself.

At the moment, as we say in the title of the post, the author of this Jailbreak, Max Bazaliy, has not made public the steps to follow to be able to enter the operating system of the famous watch Apple doesn't seem to do it in the future, something that also seems objectively reasonable to us, since what this Jailbreak can offer is far from attractive to an average audience, since it does not provide excessively necessary functions in a Smart watch.

This is further evidence that shows that technology equipment is always vulnerable And that's what hackers are for, to help companies find those security holes.

Do I think jailbreak makes sense today?

Does jailbreak make sense today?

My answer is a resounding no, at least on the iPhone. . The Jailbreak was designed to add functions to our iPhone that we didn't have in the past or, for those more perverse, to obtain paid apps for free. Today iOS is absolutely solvent by itself without having to resort to any tool or extension that complements it like a few years ago. Instead, watchOS is still a very green operating system And, really, we could take advantage of a tool such as Jailbreak, although for my part I still do not recommend it, since Jailbreaking Means Less Personal Security , since we leave an open door with illuminated signs for malware to be implanted on our devices without any security barrier.

Definitely, Today I recommend jailbreaking any of our devices . The only use that I find for it today is to find those security holes in order to transmit it to Apple itself and that, in exchange for a payment to the discoverer of the vulnerability , Apple knows the process and can correct those failures.
