The issue of Facebook and privacy seems like a never ending story. The company led by Mark Zuckerberg has been involved in controversial privacy scandals for a few years. Just yesterday we knew that Instagram, the app they own, had suffered avulnerability that affected thousands of influencers. Today, as revealed The Intercept , a Facebook document has been leaked revealing that the company is trafficking personal data.
Facebook and the umpteenth privacy scandal
The report published by The Intercept alludes to the Transfer of confidential data of thousands of Facebook users with mobile phone companies . Some of the most outstanding data are the locations , interests , social groups and other personal characteristics that Facebook collects daily from its users.
The secret Facebook report revealed shows that it is not just data related to users in the United States but that it would be happening in 50 countries , counting for it with 100 telephone operators involved. In addition to the aforementioned personal data, those more technical data referring to the type of connection made by users or the coverage they use to navigate.
The report itself in which this case is revealed states that some experts describe these actions as illegal , so if an in-depth investigation is carried out, sanctions may come both for Facebook and for the telephone companies that acquire the data. What makes this matter more serious is that Facebook does not do this by mistake or in exchange for nothing, but rather it would be profiting economically at the expense of this data traffic from its users.
