Apple sues Corellium for selling exact replicas of iOS — 2022

Apple has not liked at all that there are companies dedicated to marketing very similar replicas of its operating system under the pretext of helping security researchers detect security flaws. Corellium is one of these companies that is responsible for virtualizing iOS something that Apple did not like anything that you have decided to take legal action for taking without permission elements of your operating system for economic purposes.

From Corellium advertise themselves as a virtualization company trying to help security researchers granting exact copies of iOS so that actions such as stopping the operating system completely can be performed.

Apple doesn't want anyone to replicate its flagship operating system

Apple has decided to file a lawsuit against this company in the Southern District of Florida for openly infringing the copyright that the Cupertino company has over its own software. Seeing what Corellium offers us, it is clear that some code has been copied from iOS as well as the interface or the icons and all this without asking for any kind of permission.

In the lawsuit, Apple explains it as follows:

Although Corellium is presented as an investigative tool for those trying to discover security vulnerabilities and other flaws in Apple's software, the real goal of Corellium is to take advantage of its blatant infringement. Far from helping to fix vulnerabilities, Corellium encourages its users to sell any discovered information on the open market to the highest bidder.

The purpose of this lawsuit is not to hinder bona fide security research, but to put an end to Corellium's illegal marketing of Apple's valuable copyrighted works. Accordingly, Apple respectfully seeks an injunction to stop acts of copyright infringement of Corellium.

It is made clear that Apple does not go against security researchers who are dedicated to looking for security flaws in the brand's software. They go against the company that is violating their copyright on their own software since they are taking all the elements that they themselves have designed for economic benefit. This is undoubtedly a very serious infraction and we hope that you will receive an order to stop doing it as well as compensation for Apple for the damages that may have been caused.

with tools that allow them to do their job better since Apple is interested in detecting security flaws in order to apply a solution as soon as possible.
